Matt Jenkinson

Clinical Director & Chartered Physiotherapist

(BSc Hons, MCSP, HCPC Registered)

“I don’t just treat the injury you walked in with. I look for the root cause that let it happen in the first place.”

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Matt is the architectural lead of Your Health Roots. His background is steeped in high-performance medicine, having cut his teeth in the high-pressure world of professional sport.

Matt served as Head Physiotherapist for Salford City Reds RLFC, Hull KR RLFC, and Oldham Athletic FC, alongside assistant roles at Warrington Wolves and Stockport County. He spent over 10 years keeping professional athletes on the pitch, managing acute trauma, and optimizing recovery speed.

Today, he applies those same elite-level standards to his private practice. Whether you are an office worker with chronic back pain or a weekend warrior with a tendon issue, Matt believes you deserve the same level of diagnostic precision as a Super League player.

Occupational Health & The “Whole Person” Approach Beyond the sports field, Matt has extensive experience in Occupational Health, understanding exactly how our work environments impact our bodies. He previously managed complex cases for Jaguar Land Rover and currently serves as an Occupational Health & Ergonomics Associate for the nationally renowned Bespoke Wellbeing.

This diverse experience led Matt to a realisation: mechanical treatment alone isn’t always the answer. This birthed the Your Health Roots philosophy. Matt now combines his structural expertise (Physiotherapy & Shockwave) with a deep understanding of Pain Science and Test-Based Nutrition. He knows that if a tendon isn’t healing, simply treating the site of pain is often not enough—we need to test why the body is inflamed.

The Treatment Ethos Matt’s approach is defined by one core philosophy: “My goal is not simply to treat the pain, but to future-proof your body.”

He rejects the “passive patient” model. Instead, he operates as a collaborative coach. Using a blend of hands-on therapy, graded movement exposure, and biological testing, he empowers you to understand your pain and overcome the fear of movement. He transforms the clinic from a place of “treatment” to a space of education and permanent resolution.
